Giant hole remains after car hits Port Chester bank

One woman was sent to the hospital after a chain-reaction crash sent her car through the wall of a Port Chester bank this morning.

Police say a 47-year-old man was driving across Westchester Avenue in Port Chester without the right of way when he hit the woman's vehicle, causing it to spin and strike the Hudson Valley bank at 500 Westchester Ave.

There were no customers at the time of the impact, but a few employees were getting ready to open for the day.

Norma Alvarez, who lives across the street from the bank, was not surprised to hear of the accident and says it is a very dangerous intersection.

The 47-year-old received a summons for a suspended registration. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for neck and arm injuries.
