Man jumps from Sprain Brook Parkway overpass

There were temporary delays on the Sprain Brook Parkway yesterday evening after a man jumped off of an overpass.

Investigators at the scene say that a driver spotted a man hanging on to a fence at the Heatherdell Road overpass, then letting go and falling down onto the parkway moments later.

Police report that no one hit the man once he fell, and the incident was called in immediately by both the passerby driver and a trooper performing a traffic stop nearby.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead last night at Westchester Medical Center.
