No more 'double dipping' for county employees

Westchester County employees will no longer have the chance to "double dip" when considering retirement.

The Board of Legislators voted unanimously yesterday to offer retirees one of two pension options. Retirees will be able to select the county?s pension option or the state?s, but not both.

Workers are being asked to retire to help tackle Westchester's $166-million budget deficit. The county expects to save millions by offering only one plan.

The county is still required to opt into the state?s retirement plan. The vote is expected to take place June 21.
