Building owners to pay for oil spill cleanup

The owners of a White Plains apartment building have agreed to pay for the cleanup of nearly 200 gallons of heating oil that spilled into the Bronx River following a boiler maintenance mishap at the building.

The spill is estimated to have stretched up to five miles, all the way from White Plains to Scarsdale.

Cleanup crews used booms and sheets to sop up the oil, but the spill also reportedly affected wildlife in the area.

The cleanup bill could reportedly amount to as much as $200,000.
