Accountant found guilty of stealing $2 million

A jury convicted a Carmel accountant yesterday of stealing nearly $2 million from his former employer.

Todd Newman worked for a recycling and engineering company based in Yorktown. He was found guilty of writing and cashing checks to himself on the company's bill.

Police say Newman failed to file personal income taxes, leading to authorities beginning an investigation.

Newman faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in September.
