Grandmother accused of driving drunk with grandchild in car

An elderly woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly driving drunk with her 13-year-old granddaughter in the car.

Police say they pulled over 62-year-old Karen Talerico, of Monroe, after they received several calls of a driver swerving over the double-yellow line on Route 208.

Investigators say Talerico failed sobriety tests and her blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.

Talerico could possibly face jail time since she has a prior DWI conviction less than 10 years old, according to police reports. She also allegedly violated Leandra's Law, making it a felony to drive under the influence with a child passenger under the age of 16.
