Pro shop goes up in flames at Purchase country club

Fire investigators say that a two-alarm fire at the Brae Burn Country Club this morning appears to have started in the attic of the pro shop, where some construction work was taking place.

Employees at the Purchase club told fire officials that they noticed something was wrong around 7 a.m. when the pro shop started to get a little foggy, eventually filling up with smoke.

Firefighters say there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the building as soon as they arrived.

Members are allowed back into the club, but are being kept away from the pro shop area.

Investigators say the cause of the blaze appears to be electrical.
