Tree crashes onto 2 cars in Mohegan Lake
Severe thunderstorms that rolled through Westchester County Thursday caused a tree to crash on top of two cars in Mohegan Lake, narrowly missing the drivers.
Marilyn Reif says she was driving down Route 6 when strong wind gusts sent a large tree onto her car and onto another vehicle in the other lane.
A tree branch got lodged in the front window of the second car, but the driver and passengers weren't hurt.
Route 6 was closed for several hours as crews removed tree branches and towed away the cars. Con Edison workers were on scene repairing a power line that the tree brought down.
In New Rochelle, strong wind gusts tipped over the 45-foot sailboat off Glen Island Park. Parks Department employees say the vessel was on the wrong side of the buoy in shallow water, and therefore became stuck in the sand.
