Son: Alleged Yonkers spies innocent

The son of a Yonkers woman accused of working as part of a Russian spy ring is defending his mother's innocence, and her husband's innocence as well.

FBI agents raided the Clifton Avenue home of a woman and man known as Vicky Pelaez and Juan Lazaro.

Federal investigators say the couple traveled to Peru to meet with Russian operatives, and returned with large sums of cash hidden in their luggage.

Waldo Mariscal, son of Pelaez, maintained his mother's innocence in front of a media frenzy yesterday afternoon. "Why have they been accused of this? I don't know."
