Cops: Man tried hosing town out of water payments

A Mohegan Lake man is accused of siphoning off water from a local fire hydrant to fill his swimming pool.

Yorktown police say 30-year-old Michael Saccente attached a hose to the hydrant and filled his aboveground family pool, bypassing a water meter.

A spokesperson for the Yorktown police told News 12 they went to Saccente's home after a neighbor spotted the alleged illegal hookup. They say Saccente works as a steamfitter and had the tools to operate the hydrant.
