Assemblyman Ball accused of groping waitress

State Assemblyman Greg Ball (R-Patterson), who is running for state Senate this year, is facing accusations of fondling a waitress at an Albany bar.

The woman claimed Ball grabbed at her clothes when he was at The Assembly Restaurant and Lounge June 21. Ball, however, called the allegations "contrived."

"The first time I heard of this I was on the legislative floor voting against the budget mess," Ball said in a statement.

Ball's supporters say the assemblyman wants to reform Albany, which makes him an easy target for personal attacks.

No criminal charges have been filed against Ball. The alleged incident was reported to the management of the Albany bar, but was never reported to police.
