Police: Bogus professor lured 2 men in Nyack

Police have arrested a Connecticut man who they say posed as a professor and lured young men at the Palisades Center Mall for the purpose of torturing them.

Detectives say the suspect goes by the name of Dr. Hunter, but his real name is Larry Bottone, of Norwalk, Conn. According to police, Bottone picked up at least two men from the mall, promising them jobs as international security specialists.

Officers say Bottone told each man to meet him alone at Westchester Community College, where he would test them. In an empty classroom, police say Bottone would get the man naked and whip him.

In the 1990s, Bottone was convicted of child pornography and assault in a similar case, but only served two years.

Bottone had been released on $1,000 bail.
