HV officials urge safety during sweltering heat

Health officials are urging people in the Hudson Valley to take extra precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses as temperatures and humidity are supposed to continue to climb.

Drinking more fluids than normal, regardless of activity level, can be one of the easiest ways to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Officials say to stay out of the sun and to find places with air conditioning, such as libraries or shopping malls.

Wear lightweight and light-colored clothes, and always make sure to use sunscreen.
