Accused Russian spy set to be released on bail tomorrow
Accused Russian spy Vicky Pelaez, of Yonkers, is expected to be released on bail tomorrow.
A judge ruled Thursday that Pelaez could be released on bail and remain under house arrest until further notice. The judge said that Pelaez didn't appear to be a trained agent.
Pelaez and her husband, a man known as Juan Lazaro, are accused of taking trips to Peru to exchange information with Russian operatives and then returning with thousands of dollars hidden inside their luggage as payment.
Pelaez's son maintains that his mother and her husband are not spies.
Pelaez's bail was set for $250,000, but the Justice Department has until tomorrow to appeal the decision.
