Amtrak train stalls near Larchmont station

An Amtrak train traveling from Boston to Washington D.C. lost power this afternoon and was stuck 100 yards north of the Larchmont station for more than two hours.

The train was carrying more than 600 passengers when it lost power, including a woman who is six months pregnant. Passengers were stuck on board in the sweltering heat with no air conditioning. Larchmont firefighters and MTA police delivered more than 50 cases of water to those stranded. Local paramedics also boarded the train to make sure everyone was OK, according to officials.

Eventually, another train showed up to jump-start the stalled engine.
