Con Ed pleading for energy conservation

Westchester residents are being urged to conserve electricity as hundreds of customers are still without power since the power went out during yesterday's record-setting heat.

Con Edison Spokesperson Sandy Miller says one of the best ways to conserve energy is to cater your air-conditioner usage to the outside temperature. "You can set it for 78 degrees or higher, and you can still be comfortable and conserve energy," Miller says.

Many are turning to cooling centers to beat the heat and to save money on their electric bills. A full list of cooling centers in Westchester is available 1-800-75-CON-ED.
