Suspected spy from Yonkers to stay in jail

Federal prosecutors filed an appeal late yesterday, asking a judge to keep the Yonkers woman accused of spying for the Russian government in jail.

A federal judge granted Vicky Pelaez bail last week under the condition that she be placed under house arrest at her Yonkers home. Pelaez was the only suspect who's been granted bail out of the 10 people who were arrested nationwide in the alleged spy plot.

According to prosecutors, a new hearing for Pelaez hasn't been scheduled yet.

Meanwhile, a researcher convicted in Russia of spying for the United States has told his family that Russian officials told him he'll be exchanged for the suspects in the alleged spy plot.
