Firefighters battle 5-alarm fire in White Plains

Officials say dozens of firefighters were injured trying to put out a five-alarm blaze at a White Plains restaurant.

The fire started in the basement of the Bengal Tiger Restaurant at around 2:30 p.m. and spread through the entire building and at least five other neighboring businesses. Smoke from the blaze engulfed much of the block of East Post Road near busy Mamamorneck Avenue.

News 12 Westchester was told the firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Nearby stores and businesses were evacuated due to the fire.
