13 businesses damaged in W. Plains fire

White Plains residents are being asked to conserve water as much as possible after fire officials reported that one million gallons of water had to be used to fight a five-alarm restaurant fire Wednesday.

A fire in the basement of the Bengal Tiger Restaurant on East Post Road quickly spread through the roof of the building, destroying six other businesses and damaging a total of 13.

Fire officials report that 31 firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion after battling the inferno in record-breaking heat.
