1 dead, 2 injured in serious accident in White Plains

Police are investigating a car accident that left one person dead and two people injured Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Bloomingdale Road between Mamaroneck and Maple avenues around 12:45 p.m., causing the road to be closed.

Police say that it appears that a black Lincoln was rear-ended by a Hyundai, sending the Lincoln over the median into a white van.

Investigators say the driver of the Lincoln was a 70-year-old man from White Plains who died in the accident.

Authorities say the two other drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No further word on their condition was available.
