McLaughlin, Stewart-Cousins to debate as race heats up

Campaign workers for candidates for the 35th state Senate District are out in full force as their candidates try to rack up as many endorsements as they can before Nov. 2 and a News 12 debate scheduled for tomorrow.

The race between Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D - N.Y.) and Liam McLaughlin (R - N.Y.) has gained some steam as Sen. Stewart-Cousins picked up an endorsement yesterday from various civil service union leaders representing Yonkers and several counties.

McLaughlin spent Monday talking about issues with some senior citizens at the Will Library in Yonkers, where he handed out sponges to everyone in attendance with the message that McLaughlin is "going to clean up Albany."

The candidates are scheduled to face each other in a LIVE News 12 debate at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
