WC unveils pre-foreclosure program to prevent crises

A new program is being unveiled for Westchester homeowners who are on the road to foreclosure to help prevent crises before they happen.

The new pre-foreclosure program is being offered in conjunction by the Westchester Residential Opportunities and the New York State Banking Department. Homeowners who are at risk of being foreclosed on can get free counseling before foreclosure proceedings begin which counselors say is the best way to prevent that from happening.

"Homeowners didn't know they had opportunities and options and waited until they got foreclosure notices," says foreclosure counselor Veronica Raphael.
