Former Iona College nun allegedly stole $800K

A nun who used to work at Iona College in New Rochelle allegedly broke one of the commandments she used to live by when officials at the school discovered that she had stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Sister Susie, who?s full name is Sister Marie Thornton, was fired from her position last year as Iona?s top financial officer after it was discovered that $800,000 had gone missing, allegedly stolen by Thorntown.

The theft took place over a decade and is surfacing now because the college had to reveal the theft in an IRS tax form.

College officials say they?ve recovered most of the stolen money.
