With help, injured Marine to compete in DC marathon Sunday

An injured Hudson Valley Marine is leaving for a long-awaited mission that he's prepared for with countless hours of mental and physical training over the course of many long months.

Sgt. Eddie Ryan can't walk, but will be competing in the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, D.C. this weekend with some help from fellow Staff Sgt. Bryan Purcell.

The team at Newburgh-based Orange County Choppers built a special hand-powered bike for Ryan, who will be pushed from behind by Purcell.

Ryan was shot twice in the head in Iraq in 2005. News 12 wishes Ryan and Purcell the best of luck in their race this weekend.
