Hunt continues for hit-and-run driver in HV

The hunt is ongoing for the hit-and-run driver who mowed down a wheelchair-bound woman in Spring Valley last week.

Police say the crash happened last Thursday night as Cynthia Gershanow was crossing East Eckerson Road in her motorized wheelchair.

Police say the weight of Gershanow's chair prevented her from sustaining more serious injuries. Gershanow's home health aide was with her at the time, but was not injured in the crash.

Gershanow is expected to recover from her injuries. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the vehicle or driver involved is being asked to call Ramapo police.
