HV town wins international beautification award
The town of Warwick was the only American town to enter an international beautification contest, and the modest Orange County community managed to walk away with first place.
Warwick beat out 13 other towns from countries as near as Canada and as far away as Japan in the "Communities in Bloom" contest.
The Canadian-run competition rates town and cities for their environmental responsibility, civic pride and beautification.
"It will be good for business. It will be good for the community, and it will attract people here to visit and we're just very excited about that," said Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton.
This marks the second time an American community has won the award.
