Gillibrand hoping to return to Senate, beat challenger DioGuardi

Republican Joe DioGuardi is hoping to return to Washington as a senator, but standing in his way is incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).

Gillibrand was appointed to the seat after Hillary Clinton it to become secretary of state under President Barack Obama. If she wins the special election, Gillibrand will fill out the remaining two years left of Clinton's term.

"[There are] people who are really upset about the status quo and they want to change it," said DioGuardi while casting his ballot this morning in Ossining.

DioGuardi is looking to ride the anti-incumbent wave into office, but the latest polling numbers show Gillibrand holding a double-digit lead.
