Ball declares 40th state Senate race win with margins close

With a margin of only four percentage points separating them, Republican Assemblyman Greg Ball declared victory over his Democratic opponent Mike Kaplowitz in the race for the 40th state Senate District.

Ball had 52 percent of the vote, compared to Kaplowitz's 48 percent, when he made the announcement early Wednesday morning.

Ball said that his campaign finally decided there was no way he could lose, and immediately started to look forward to a possible Republican majority in the Senate.

Ball had a few words for the new Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo, saying, "I'm going to give my advice to the governor, for what it?s worth, to Cuomo? Don't focus on the social issues, focus on term limits, focus on balancing the budget."
