NYC basketball coach arrested on sex abuse charges in WC

A well-known former New York City basketball coach has been arrested at a Westchester retirement home on charges he sexually abused one of his players three decades ago. Ernie Lorch, who founded and coached the famed AAU basketball program at the Riverside Baptist Church, was arrested Wednesday at his Ardsley retirement home.

The program Lorch founded has produced several NBA players since its inception.

Lorch is accused of abusing a 17-year-old player in the 1970s and may have even sued his accuser, claiming the alleged victim tried to extort money from him.
