Term limits discussed at public meeting in Westchester

The idea of limiting Westchester legislators and the county executive to a maximum of 12 years is brought up every election year in Westchester, but this year the issue has received additional attention as it was discussed in a public hearing last night.

At the meeting, Westchester County legislators appeared evenly split on the issue. Some legislators say that term limits are not a good idea, as it would force out experienced politicians.

Also discussed was the proposal of combining the Department of Emergency Services into the Department of Public Safety. The idea has drawn a lot of fire as some say it will reduce services, putting the public at risk.
