Inspector general investigates Yonkers education funds

Inspector General Dan Schorr says the Yonkers teachers' union is not complying with his request for information on how millions of education dollars are being spent in the troubled district.

Schorr wants to know how the $4 million given to the Yonkers Federation of Teachers for their welfare fund is spent. He claims union officials essentially told him "no" when asked for information.

Schorr says if union president Pat Puleo does not hand over the requested documents, a lawsuit could ensue.

City Councilman John Murtagh is joining in Schorr's request for the documents. Murtagh says taxpayers should know how their money is spent.
