New Rochelle announces 2011 city budget

New Rochelle officials released the city's budget for the upcoming fiscal year yesterday.

City Manager Charles Strome III announced his proposed budget. The plan calls for an increase in property taxes by 3.9 percent, but will not actually generate additional revenue for the city.

The budget also calls for eliminating some full-time city employees, including police officers, firemen and public works employees. Nine percent of the workforce has been eliminated since 2009.
