Schumer pushing for 'deadly' energy drink ban

Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for a statewide ban of a specific brand of alcoholic energy drinks that he says can be a deadly mix for potential underage drinkers.Four Loko drinks contain various forms of caffeine, sugar, and as much as 12 percent alcohol, which is nearly three times as much as a standard can of beer.

Schumer says the drinks are deadly mixes for teens, adding that because the federal government never approved the beverages the State Liquor Authority has the power to ban the drink.

Four Loko binges have already been blamed for sending four White Plains teens to the hospital and have been linked to deaths around the nation.
