WC salutes war heroes with parades, dedications

The time-honored tradition of recognizing the heroism of our nation's veterans held true today as communities throughout the Hudson Valley paid tribute to their own local veterans and active duty soldiers.

Scarsdale residents gathered for a solemn memorial to remember the nation's fallen heroes, while people in Yonkers held their annual Veterans Day parade to show their support.

Three local vets got some specific recognition in Yonkers today; Seymour Lehman, a Korean War veteran who has been inducted into the New York State Veterans Hall of Fame, Yonkers Daniel Morea, the Deputy Director of Yonkers' Veterans Services, and Sergeant Noel Pichardo, a Saunders H.S. graduate whose unit took down the statue of Saddam Hussein.
