Mental health clinics face ax in WC budget plan

Several mental health clinics in Westchester could have their funding cut under County Executive Rob Astornino (R-Westchester) 2011 budget plan.

In recent years, after the county closed its own public health clinics, facilities such as the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Clinic picked up the slack, with subsidies provided by the county.

But under the 2011 budget proposed by Astorino, the subsidy for the Mount Vernon clinic and others would be eliminated.

The first of three public hearings on the budget proposal is scheduled for next Wednesday.
