Tarrytown residents raise funds for fallen firefighters' families

The Tarrytown community came together Friday night to raise funds for the families of two firefighters killed in a tragic manhole accident.

More than 1,000 residents packed into the Doubletree Hotel to raise money for the families of fallen firefighters John Kelly and Anthony Ruggiero.

Kelly and Ruggiero were killed on Labor Day after descending into a manhole in Tarrytown. The medical examiner says they died of asphyxiation due to low oxygen levels and sewer gases.

Ruggiero's family says they were overwhelmed with emotion by the outpouring of support from their community.
