Owner asks for help finding driver who hit, left dog for dead

A Suffern couple is asking for the public's help in finding the person who hit their dog with a car last week and left her for dead.

Sandy and Edward Brenner say that they were walking their 11-month-old pitbull terrier Nala in the woods behind their Lime Kiln Road home in Suffern on Friday afternoon when Nala was hit. "She was laying in the road," Sandy Brenner says of the moments after the impact. "I thought she was going to die."

The Brenners say Nala had severe bleeding in her lungs, cracked ribs and required hundreds of stitches.

The Brenners, who did not get the license plate number of the vehicle involved, are asking anyone who's seen a dark blue station wagon or minivan with damage to the front grill to call Ramapo police.
