HV family petitions for posthumous Purple Heart honor
The family of a Chester soldier who was killed in a suspected fragging incident is pushing to have their fallen loved one given the Purple Heart posthumously and have collected thousands of signatures to support their cause.
Lt. Louis Allen, of Chester, was allegedly killed by another officer, and not while fighting an enemy, which typically is when Purple Heart honors are given posthumously.
Allen's family says that they are now working with Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun to collect signatures on a petition to get Allen his honor. So far, they say they've collected more than 5,000 signatures.
