Assault in Yonkers hospitalizes four cops; gangster arrested

Police say that a local gang is likely to blame for an assault last night that hospitalized four police officers and landed one known gang member in jail.

Investigators say that a couple was walking into a Getty Gas Station on Riverdale Avenue Monday night when they were approached by two Hispanic men and a woman who yelled "vatos locos," the name of a local street gang, before throwing bottles at the victims.

One of the victims was stabbed in the arm, and when police officers arrived, they say that one of the suspects even turned the knife on them and punched an officer in the eye.

Jesus Vivanco, 20, who police say is a known member of the Vatos Locos gang, was arrested. The other two suspects remain at large.
