Mayor joins protest to keep Yonkers Catholic school open

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone is expected to make a statement sometime today after joining a group of parents Wednesday night who were protesting the possible closure of Saint Bartholomew's Catholic School in Yonkers.

Saint Bart's is one of 14 Catholic schools in the Hudson Valley area that are at risk of being shut down because of rising costs and low enrollment. President of the Saint Bart's Parent Association Stacey O'Rourke says that it is her understanding that if the school can get 50 new students, it may be able to remain open. O'Rourke says that as of now, that is the Parent Association's main focus.
