Wave of opposition to Astorino's budget plan for WC

Opposition is mounting against Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's new budget proposal, with some activists saying the 1-percent cut in property taxes isn't worth the painful spending cuts on the table.

Hundreds of people packed into the Yonkers Riverfront Library Wednesday to voice their opposition to Astorino's $1.8 billion budget, which eliminates hundreds of jobs, cuts some county services and slashes funding for non-profit groups.

County legislators say they will continue listening to public concerns over the budget and want to reiterate that Astorino's plan was merely a suggestion, because they get the final say on next year's budget.
