Teen hospitalized after shooting near Yonkers school

Yonkers police say that a 17-year-old boy is expected to survive after he was shot in the stomach last night in an incident that has cops on the lookout for at least three suspects. The Yonkers police ShotSpotter gunshot detection system detected shots at the corner of Cliff and Spruce streets around 8:30 p.m. When police arrived in the area, they found the victim on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue, which is just around the corner, bleeding from his stomach. According to police, three males were seen running from the scene into Fleming Park, just blocks away from Yonkers School 23. Investigators say they are probing the possibility that last night's shooting might be related to another gang-related shooting from last week in the same area.
