Rockland group makes plea for holiday donations

The director of a nonprofit group in Rockland says that the number of local families in need this year has skyrocketed, and is urging people to help by donating anything they can.

Diane Serratore, director of the People to People group, says that they have already helped about a thousand families and are still expecting some 500 more in the next week. The greatest demand, she says, is for turkey dinners. "More people than in the history of this organization are coming here," Serratore said. "We're seeing people who were once donors now asking for us to put food on their table this Thanksgiving." The pantry is also behind something called 'Project Joy,' in which you can adopt a family and help provide toys and clothing during the holidays. To find out how you can help, click here.
