Galleria mall briefly evacuated due to bomb scare

The Galleria at White Plains shopping mall was evacuated for more than an hour today after mall security spotted an abandoned suitcase near the food court.

Police say mall security noticed a middle aged man rolling a black suitcase on the surveillance video. When he left the suitcase unattended, they immediately evacuated the mall and surrounding areas.

According to authorities, the man claimed a Middle Eastern-looking person gave him the suitcase and he abandoned it when he noticed it was ticking.

The bomb squad was called in to investigate, but officials say the suitcase was found to contain only clothes.

Police are questioning the middle aged man seen rolling the bag. They say the investigation is ongoing.
