2 of top 5 safest cities in U.S. right here in HV

A list of the best and worst cities in the nation, with regard to crime, was recently released, and two of the top five safest cities were determined to be right here in the Hudson Valley.

Washington, D.C.-based CQ Press released its 2010 findings and listed Ramapo as the third safest community in the country. Only two spots away on the list was Clarkstown, which was listed as the fifth-safest community in the nation.

CQ says that it factors in the rate of six different categories of crime when determining its lists: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft.

The safest city in the country was listed as Colonie, N.Y., which is just north of Albany. The least safe was listed as St. Louis, Mo. Click here to read the full list.
