Mt. Vernon woman looks to high court in effort to keep home

A Mount Vernon woman turned to the U.S. Supreme Court today, asking for help in avoiding foreclosure on her home.

Bernice Perez says she has been locked in a legal battle over her home for nearly eight years.

Perez says the issue started in Jan. 2003, when Wells Fargo told her it never received the prior three months of mortgage payments. However, Perez says she has all three receipts showing that she made the disputed payments.

While waiting to hear from the U.S. Supreme Court, local housing activists say they got together with Perez to try and combat her foreclosure issue.
