Fire destroys Briarcliff Manor auto garage

An early morning fire destroyed a Briarcliff Manor auto repair garage today.

The flames broke out around 4:30 a.m. at Billy's Auto Repair on North State Road. The fire chief says the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

Three antique cars that were inside the garage at the time of the fire were damaged, and some cars in the parking lot suffered heat damage. In addition, a neighboring home also suffered heat damage from the blaze.

The owner of the shop, Billy Egloff, says he's devastated but that he has insurance and does plan on rebuilding.
