Experts urge safety during holiday shopping

No matter where you head out for your holiday shopping this season, law enforcement officials are urging all shoppers to be safe.

Officials say safety starts even before you leave your house. You should make sure you have a plan of where you are going and what you need to buy. In addition, make sure that your home is securely locked up and some lights are on, if you go shopping at night.

Once you get to your destination, make sure to park in well-lit areas and lock your vehicles. Make sure to hide any purchases as you go from store to store in trunks or under blankets.

Police say these simple security tips will help make your holiday season safe.
