Peekskill church serves Thanksgiving feast to needy
On the day when most Americans are getting ready to sit down to a large Thanksgiving feast with their loved ones, local churches are hosting dinners for those who are less fortunate.
At Peekskill United Methodist Church, volunteers from across Westchester County labored for hours on Thanksgiving staples, from roasted turkeys to stuffing and pies.
"It's the only way to appreciate the day," says organizer Roy Volpe.
Volpe says over the past five years, he has seen an increase in the number of families, children and seniors turning up at church events on Thanksgiving.
