60-foot HV tree joins ranks of celeb saplings in NYC

A West Haverstraw family is helping the New York Stock Exchange look a little more festive this holiday season after scouting out a perfect, 60-foot tall Norway Spruce tree to bring some cheer to the trading floor.

Jim O'Sullivan, of O'Sullivan Tree Care in West Nyack, is not only a tree business owner, but a professional tree scout who looks for standout trees that become the centerpiece of outdoor Christmas celebrations.

O'Sullivan picked a tree from the lawn of the DeMartini family, of West Haverstraw, to adorn the lower-Manhattan stock exchange, adding that the Hudson Valley has many beautiful trees because most were planted back in the 1940s and 50s, when many Hudson Valley homes were built.

The tree is expected to be put up at the stock exchange Friday night, and will be lit next Tuesday.
